The book is split into two visible messages from God with a similar contrast to the old and new testament. Here focuses on comforting Israel and bringing the good news.
(NIV)Isaiah 40:18
With whom, then, will you compare God? To what image will you liken him?
For surely, all praise should be given to God the Almighty. For the Lord deserve our fear and reverence.
(NIV)Isaiah 42:9
See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.”
For new things have come and through Christ we find redemption of our soul! For his plans are not our plans.
(NIV)Isaiah 42:20
You have seen many things, but you pay no attention; your ears are open, but you do not listen.”
Far too often I don't listen to his voice and hence deny his power in my life.
(NIV)Isaiah 43:25
“I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.
(NIV)Isaiah 44:10
Who shapes a god and casts an idol, which can profit nothing?
(NIV)Isaiah 44:20
Such a person feeds on ashes; a deluded heart misleads him; he cannot save himself, or say, “Is not this thing in my right hand a lie? ”
For the world feeds us with lies and deceives us from the will of God. For the Lord is all we need.
(NIV)Isaiah 45:9
“Woe to those who quarrel with their Maker, those who are nothing but potsherds among the potsherds on the ground. Does the clay say to the potter, ‘What are you making?’ Does your work say, ‘The potter has no hands’?
Who am I to question God and his ways?
(NIV)Isaiah 46:9-10
Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. [10] I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, ‘My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.’
It's amazing how God revealed his nature and latest to Isaiah. For what a sight it must have been!
(NIV)Isaiah 48:9-11
For my own name’s sake I delay my wrath; for the sake of my praise I hold it back from you, so as not to destroy you completely. [10] See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. [11] For my own sake, for my own sake, I do this. How can I let myself be defamed? I will not yield my glory to another.
For we praise a merciful God, full of love and faithfulness. Praise be to him! His love endures forever.
(NIV)Isaiah 49:15
“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!
(NIV)Isaiah 50:2
When I came, why was there no one? When I called, why was there no one to answer? Was my arm too short to deliver you? Do I lack the strength to rescue you? By a mere rebuke I dry up the sea, I turn rivers into a desert; their fish rot for lack of water and die of thirst.
(NIV)Isaiah 51:6
Lift up your eyes to the heavens, look at the earth beneath; the heavens will vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment and its inhabitants die like flies. But my salvation will last forever, my righteousness will never fail.
For in God I trust for his salvation lasts forever. My sufferings shall be no more.
(NIV)Isaiah 51:16
I have put my words in your mouth and covered you with the shadow of my hand---I who set the heavens in place, who laid the foundations of the earth, and who say to Zion, ‘You are my people. ’ ”
(NIV)Isaiah 53:5
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
(NIV)Isaiah 55:8-9, 11
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. [9] “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. [11] so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
My wisdom is his foolishness.
(NIV)Isaiah 56:10
Israel’s watchmen are blind, they all lack knowledge; they are all mute dogs, they cannot bark; they lie around and dream, they love to sleep.
For we are all watchmen and yet we don't all behave as such. We lie around and dream or seek our own desires.
(NIV)Isaiah 59:20-21
“The Redeemer will come to Zion, to those in Jacob who repent of their sins,” declares the Lord. [21] “As for me, this is my covenant with them,” says the Lord. “My Spirit, who is on you, will not depart from you, and my words that I have put in your mouth will always be on your lips, on the lips of your children and on the lips of their descendants---from this time on and forever,” says the Lord.
For the Lord wants us to repent of our sins and so become one with him.
(NIV)Isaiah 60:10
“Foreigners will rebuild your walls, and their kings will serve you. Though in anger I struck you, in favor I will show you compassion.
(NIV)Isaiah 61:1
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,
(NIV)Isaiah 61:10
I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
For I need to delight in the Lord for he's worthy of praise. For I've been clothed with salvation and his mercy has been everlasting. May his glory continue to shine in my life.
(NIV)Isaiah 63:10
Yet they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit. So he turned and became their enemy and he himself fought against them.
For my rebellious heart grieves the very essence of God his Holy Spirit.
(NIV)Isaiah 64:4-5
Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. [5] You come to the help of those who gladly do right, who remember your ways. But when we continued to sin against them, you were angry. How then can we be saved?
(NIV)Isaiah 65:17
“See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.
(NIV)Isaiah 66:2
Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?” declares the Lord. “These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word.
For do I tremble at God's word? For he wants us to be humble and contrite in heart.
