April 2005. We were young and wild. The world and our responsibilities in it was a foreign concept. We lived for the moment. This was campus church team-building camp, where we got to let go our insecurities and just try your best. Just. Your. Best.  Somehow, that concept is so complicated to grasp and practice. We care too much about the outcome and don't focus on the process. Life will have muddy puddles and hanging ropes. Focus on the process. I came across this piece of Christian Literature and it amazed me that these words is probably the ONLY common ground to the thousand churches we have today. How did it get so lost? I'm not talking about your net worth; I'm talking about your self-worth. Don't ever confuse your valuables with your value as a person. You can be rich or poor, but it has nothing to do with your value as a person. There are two things that determine value in life: Value is what someone is willing to pay for something. Value depends on who has owned something in the past.

When the Lord said that the Sabbath was a day of rest , there's a lot of wisdom in that. In today's society, we are compelled to be busy because otherwise we feel that we're not fulfilling our God-given talents.

This post is inspired by an engaging conversation I had with a couple of friends at church around a topic that most people (including myself) don't fully understand.

I've been studying the bible on how God views wealth and how it often conflicts with our natural behavior. I mean it's quite clear that as people (and mostly Christians) have not attained (or fail to pursue) the spiritual maturity when it comes to the true meaning of wealth (which obviously includes social status , money and possessions). Something really touched me in the book of James 1: 9 Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position. 10 But the rich should take pride in their humiliation—since they will pass away like a wild flower. 11 For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich will fade away even while they go about their business. The amazing thing about this verse is that Rich people DON'T LIKE to be HUMILIATED .
