Jeremiah 27-52

(NIV)Jeremiah 27:11
But if any nation will bow its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him, I will let that nation remain in its own land to till it and to live there, declares the Lord.” ’ ”

Its amazing how God decided to pull himself this far away from his people to the point where Babylon (the nation that he cursed) had become his servant of destruction.

(NIV)Jeremiah 28:15
Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, “Listen, Hananiah! The Lord has not sent you, yet you have persuaded this nation to trust in lies.

For its so easy to listen to the things that make sense to us. But yet, us serving God requires us to discard common sense and obey exactly what he says as absurd as it might be.

(NIV)Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

This scripture now becomes so vivid as it was part of letter sent to exiles and God tells them to find joy and peace in this time of captivity and that he hasn't forgotten about them but keeps them in his heart.

(NIV)Jeremiah 30:11
I am with you and will save you,’ declares the Lord. ‘Though I completely destroy all the nations among which I scatter you, I will not completely destroy you. I will discipline you but only in due measure; I will not let you go entirely unpunished.’

(NIV)Jeremiah 30:24
The fierce anger of the Lord will not turn back until he fully accomplishes the purposes of his heart. In days to come you will understand this.

For just like God, our hearts is the wellspring of life.

(NIV)Jeremiah 31:17
So there is hope for your descendants,” declares the Lord. “Your children will return to their own land.

God is a God that always wants us to be hopeful and trust that he's in control of now and forever.

(NIV)Jeremiah 31:31
“The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah.

(NIV)Jeremiah 31:34
No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the Lord. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”

God sets a tone that new things are coming and a new covenant will be established.

(NIV)Jeremiah 32:25
And though the city will be given into the hands of the Babylonians, you, Sovereign Lord, say to me, ‘Buy the field with silver and have the transaction witnessed. ’ ”

God shows an eternal truth that our faith and hope in God needs to be accompanied with action. In the face of war, true faith buys the field of the land you will return with. Wow!

(NIV)Jeremiah 36:3
Perhaps when the people of Judah hear about every disaster I plan to inflict on them, they will each turn from their wicked ways; then I will forgive their wickedness and their sin.”

God is always hopeful that we'll repent and he will then forgive us. He's asking us to always to it because he's done it first.

(NIV)Jeremiah 42:3, 6
Pray that the Lord your God will tell us where we should go and what we should do.” [6] Whether it is favorable or unfavorable, we will obey the Lord our God, to whom we are sending you, so that it will go well with us, for we will obey the Lord our God.”

In times of desperation, we become the most humble and rational towards praising God. And yet that's what God expects from us everyday.

(NIV)Jeremiah 44:4-5
Again and again I sent my servants the prophets, who said, ‘Do not do this detestable thing that I hate!’ [5] But they did not listen or pay attention; they did not turn from their wickedness or stop burning incense to other gods.

(NIV)Jeremiah 46:28
Do not be afraid, Jacob my servant, for I am with you,” declares the Lord. “Though I completely destroy all the nations among which I scatter you, I will not completely destroy you. I will discipline you but only in due measure; I will not let you go entirely unpunished.”

God always provides a way out. For all he does is to His glory and for His love for us.

(NIV)Jeremiah 51:15
“He made the earth by his power; he founded the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding.

My folly is obvious in comparison to God's plan and wisdom. I can neither understand or comprehend Him.

(NIV)Jeremiah 52:13
He set fire to the temple of the Lord, the royal palace and all the houses of Jerusalem. Every important building he burned down.

And the prophecy came through and the temple of the Lord was destroyed.

RE: End of Year Function 2012

Hi bros and sisters   I think people will still travel on Saturday anyway to different destinations, so they can travel to Athlone Girls for our Christmas party. Personally, I think we should do the party on Saturday as original arranged and let Sunday be exclusively reserved for our praise and worship service.   Saturday we just party and have a good time!   Kind Regards   Henry Mnguni Sales Executive   Rivonia Toyota Office:        011 275 1699 Mobile:       082 325 5593 Fax2Email: 086 242 8226   C/O Rivonia Road            & Witkoppen Rivonia Crossing Sunninghill   From: Maswuma, Nelson T [mailto:nmaswuma@beckman.com] Sent: 18 October 2012 11:24 AM To: Paulin Kantue; Barnabas Chukweke; Bertha Chukweke; Henry Mnguni; Henry Mnguni; Henry Mnguni; fatamathebula@gmail.com...

Now faith...

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." (Hebrews 11:1). Often times I believe that I have faith by what I say and think. But the more I meditate on this scripture, I see that 'being sure' comes with your body language when that situation is mentioned. You don't drop ur head; you still have a bounce in your step. Everything about you says you have a positive attitude towards that situation. "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him." (Hebrews 11:6). So it goes on a step further and says without that positive attitude and bounce in your step, God will not be pleased. For the source of that confidence comes from acknowledging God's presence in our lives and Him able to do beyond what we can imagine. "Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and figuratively speaking, he did receive Is...

Affirming in Disagreement

A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare. -  Proverbs 15:1 Do you know how to affirm your spouse even when you disagree? It's a big step in learning how to have meaningful conversations. Take this example: A wife has shared that she is hurt by something her husband has done, and he responds, "I appreciate your sharing your ideas and feelings with me. Now I can understand why you could feel so hurt. If I were in your shoes, I'm sure I would feel the same way. I want you to know that I love you very much, and it hurts me to see you upset. I appreciate your being open with me." This husband has learned the art of affirming his wife even though he may not agree with her perception. Of course, he has a perspective and will eventually share it, but first, he wants his wife to know that he understands what she is saying and can identify with her pain. He is not condemning her interpretation, nor is he telling her that she should not feel up...
