Rato and I went to watch Dreamgirls on Tuesday. It took quite a bit of convincing to come and watch this show but I'm glad I went. The performance really kept the flavour of the movie and singing was mind-blowing. I only had one (serious) drawback... The tickets said "No three years old and younger". But during the course of the show you were getting a sense that this should have been more like "No thirteen years old and younger". Some the scenes had really strong language, some the costumes were very explicit and the penultimate by Jimmy Early made me cringe on the behalf of all the small kids watching. So it made me wonder... Was it just me or did a organizers completely missed how exposure to such things could affect the younger audience. Call me "old school" but after this show, I'll triple check the content of the show prior to bringing a younger audience to the theater.
