The extrovert toddler's dream come true

The stars had aligned. The toddler had grown enough to be ready for nature's wild surprises. He will not be scared anymore, but rather his curiosity drive him to be brave and adventurous. It was his time and no one will take it away from him. So he seized the moment as it was his own. And the rest is history...

Asterix and Obelix at Secret Valley

It was a time of relaxation for the humans and time of explorations for the canines. Our two eldest boys Asterix and Obelix had such a great time that they could not contain their excitement throughout the time we were there. Our youngest ,Samson also had a blast (the story in the upcoming post).

Focus on your Heart. Then act!

When we read this passage (1 Samuel 21), we often forget that David lied (and not just once) about why he was alone. And yet he was known as "as man after God's own heart". Often we mistaken our current actions (good or bad) as a COMPLETE reflection of one's CHARACTER versus seeing it as a blemish/shine in our Armour that's being built over time. I believe this conditioning is the major reason why Christians (including myself) stop pursuing big dreams for God. We've forgotten that in the quest of achieving something good/great for God, failure is part of the equation. We've lied to ourselves by thinking our 'current situation/actions' ALONE determines our 'future position', hence undermining our 'heart's desire' (which has a much bigger impact). Let's get focused on what our hearts wants in our walk with God. Cherish it and harness it. The correct actions will follow suit. #goodmorning #MondayMotivation

Fun time at the Aerospace and Defence Air show

So it was a great time at the airshow whereby Samson got to see favourite toys in 'full-scale' size. This time around, he was accompanied by his cousin which made the event all the more exhausting for the toddler-sitters: my wife and I. Nevertheless, the exciting on their faces was all worth it. I guess the child-like spirit of turning your heads towards the skies, brims with joy and purpose of seeing the great feat of human-kind which has lasting effect. I was pleasantly surprised to see so many people making the trip to the airshow when the country is in such a disarray at government level. Then seeing the exciting faces makes you realize that the pride of a nation is not about those you see on TV or hear on radio: It's got to do the spirit of steadfastness and determination in the little (and not so little) boys and girls that have everything invested in seeing this beautifully diverse country succeed and be a land of equal opportunity for all. Let the dreams be ...

Have you seen the series "Dear White People"?

Have you seen the series "Dear White People"? Well... Have you? All I can say is... wow! It's tough on the emotions but MAN does it stir them! This is not a review. For that,  click here . This is simply a proclamation for all things real and in your face (which I'm a fan of) no matter how uncomfortable it might be. And to all my non-ethnic (i.e non black) comrades, just watch it with an open mind... Again I say, WOW!

The fight for sympathy in a growing apathetic society (personal story)

You can be in a situation where you have every right (and power) to condemn someone for their wrongdoing, but you pause. The person could even concede that he/she should have known better and is gracefully willing to take the punishment, whatever it might be, but you pause. Then in the mist of your rage, you introspect to realize, you could have been YOU on the other side of the table, except through varying (often complex) circumstances. Apathy is often what is being shun down upon in most leadership/christian books, yet in practice it's the very trait that is admired for someone who is decisive and 'getting the job done'. The assumption in believing that Old testament prophets were not apathetic towards the conquered nations is both naive and short-sighted. Not that I have any experience in this, but it's pretty difficult to cut someone's head off, if you're feeling sorry for him (unless you're really twisted upstairs). Back to my story... As some...

Courage before knowledge

You know the one thing I can say,  is that when the time of Christmas comes around no one is immune to the fact that the innerbeing longs for a sense of illusion. It was great to see that Samson really embraced Christmas as if he always knew what it was about. According to him, it is time of laughter, joy, exchanging of gifts, singing carols and just having fun. The most amazing thing is that he didn't have to be told what Christmas was about, he chose to courageously embrace the notion that we all have inside: the need to be loved and the need to matter. Kudos to my two-year old son for redefining the meaning of courage before knowledge.
